The fuel filter light came on while driving home last night on my 1995 7.3 powerstroke. The filter was just changed about a month ago. I also had just filled up at a gas station last night too. I have seen some guys on the forums complain about their filter light coming on too but experiencing loss of power and stalling out associated with it and most of the posts i read, they ended up having a bad fuel pump. So far, i have not had any issues with loss of power or stalling out. Just the light coming on. i went out and started the truck today and now the light is not on. i pressed the pedal to the floor and the light came on around the 2500rpm range but went out as soon as i let off the pedal. truck seems to be starting and running fine for right now. Any ideas?

 

The light , if it is working correctly, tell you that there is a restriction in the fuel system. Being you had just filled the fuel tanks, I suspect you got some dirty fuel. I would try changing the filter and see if this corrects the light coming on.

 

i will probably change it to be on the safe side. I also picked up a bottle of fuel and tank cleaner and put that in there to see if it makes a difference. Thanks!
