88 f150 300 l6 been running great for the past few months hit a mild bump on the highway today hear a miss and cel came on. Now engine is idling high koer codes are 22 and 98. Replaced map sensor with known good sensor (due to code 22) to no avail. Unplugging the sensor has no effect on idle. Checked voltages at sensor ref. and sig. Voltages are correct. Checked for continuity from pcm connecter to map sensor connector. Almost no resistance present. Should I go for the pcm next?
My guess, before you go replacing stuff, look for a loose wire or vacuum hose, you said it was after you hit a bump, so my idea is that knocked something loose.
It looks like if you got code 98 while it was running, shut it off, do the test again. In KOEO not KOER
I have codes 34 and 63, so I unplugged the TPS and plugged it back in while it was running, my engine squealed and died, but now it feels more responsive to gas, although I think that squeal may have been air firing through my already old IACV, toasting it, it idles a bit unsteady now lol, until i unplug the IACV, which I don't, its not that bad.
checked map sensor output frequency as well as ground resistance. Frequency and vacuum corresponded correctly. was frustrated and and went to start the truck no more CEL running as she should will update if it happens again
The pinpoint tests start at DF 90 for code 22.
I would start there.
Those pinpoint tests go through it all, so you do not replace the wrong part or chase your tail supposedly.
Here you are
Continuous monitor mode with a star tester is a way to wiggle test the wiring while watching the LED on the tester
You can painstakingly do the same thing back probing with a dvom
Good luck
Almost immedietly after my last post faults came back, never heard of star tester. Any links to them? Already established connection between pins 45 and 26 from pcm to map connector. Also good grounds from Map to egr/tps, as well as map to neg terminal almost resistance across the board.
Back probed pin 45 on pcm this morning value shown on map sensor signal wire was the same as pcm. Started the truck same thing as yesterday CEL gone ran normally for about 10 minutes until FMEM came back into affect. KOER test was ran while running normally code 46 was present this time
