Hi guys, I just bought a 1991 Bronco. It has the Electric Shift transfer case. As I type I;m in the process of removing the "thing" that engages the 4x4 that is directly connected to the transfer case.
The problem i'm having is there is about 4 wires and one brown one that come out of the transfer case and connect to the weather pack connector. How do you remove them. DO I have no choice but to cut them and then re-connect them.
I need to get to the parts store in an hour, before they close. Please help!!
I think you are talking about the wires that go into a plastic thing on teh x case that is surounded by the case. You might not be becasue i think there are only 2 wires, but if that is it, yes you need to cut them and reattach them later.
Sorry about my confusing post. The part I was taking out is the Transfer-case motor. My Bronco has the Electric Shift Transfer case so, that motor engages the 4x4.
By the way I did cut the wires. I will just re-connect them when I put the X-case motor back.
The funny thing is this stupid transfercase motor is a Dealer Item only. I found this out when I rushed to the parts store.
I for sure won;t buy it from a dealer. It;s probable $200 there.
I will just go get one from a junk-yard tomarrow.
