I just purchased a 1970 ford f250 and it did not come with its distributor and rock auto lists a few different ones and I’m not sure which I need, my truck is a 70 f250 with the 360 along with power brakes and ford factory installed a/c, thanks in advance
Well being you dont have a dist. for a core I would forget the reman ones at the bottom.
I have not heard of SKP so that leaves Cardone but ....
If the truck is on the POS side then maybe go for the SKP but ..... I dont think it comes with a cap & rotor like the Cardone.
By the time you buy the cap / rotor you might be up to the price of the Cardone.
Besides the new Cardone is cheaper than the rema units.

the 40$ core charge doesn’t scare me I just don’t know if I need a dual vacuum distributor or breaker less points, I have no idea and my truck is a 70 model, I’m the second owner, 71,000 original miles with original paint, was a pretty highly optioned truck being a sport custom with the explorer package so it had power disc brakes and steering, along with factory a/c
2 Xs with 351 on the Summit Petronics, also get the matching coil. One word of caution. Since you do not know why the distributor is missing you need to check if the oil pump is not locked up. With. 1/4” drive 9/32” socket taped to an extension insert it down to rotate the oil pump shaft CCW just to be sure. I may be wrong on the socket size but give it a try.
Then locate #1 tdc compression stroke with the #1 spark out, check that the timing marks line up on the balancer
and the timing cover flag. Line up the rotor to the #1 Firing order. The distributor may not drop all the way so you will have to bump the starter to get the pump shaft to engage the distributor shaft.

the Distributor is missing because the guy rebuilt the top end but never finished it and lost the original distributor, he gave my a generic China eBay hei distributor but I’d rather go back to stock but I’ll look into pertronics
