The motor is a Ford 460 so don't think it's a general motors!

So your saying it's not an aftermarket distributor?

I was just wanting to know the manufacture of the distributor, in case I need parts or whatever for it?

Looks like one of those fancy overpriced MSD distributors or the like. General motors style HEI setup. Only parts I'd give it would be the dumpster, then put the ford duraspark system back in.

But to answer your question, I'd bet it's an MSD distributor.

Looks kinda old. Definetly not GM. No where near fitting. Maybe Davis Unified Ignition, Acel

What you have is an aftermarket HEI- GM style distributor. It is produced by a couple of manufacturers.

There is an STAMPING I.D. on the bowl. You can try to cross it by going to the manufacturer(s) websites. You may see more info by removing the cap.

The resistance you are experiencing is that it is a GM system and most here have no use for the system. Nothing personal.

I just recently purchased the truck, and have no use for a GM distributor either. Just didn't know anything on it. But looks like I need to replace the engine, so will replace distributor as well. Orielly Reman engines a good buy?

...whew...

With today's replacement parts quality I would hate to say. Can you go through the engine yourself or do you just want an exchange?
