Gauge wiring

Can I run the fuel sender wire directly to the gauge or do I have to route it thru the instrument voltage regulator first? Trying to clean up instrument wiring mess...Bob

What year truck? Don't matter all the stock Ford gauges run on a nominal 5V from the ICVR, but all the sender wires go directly to the gauge. The senders are just varying the resistance to ground. Be careful if you truck has a printed circuit dash panel if you short it out it can damage it.

I think the fuel sender wire runs through the ICVR. This is why the fuel gauge doesn't move when there is fuel slosh in the tank. Keep the ICVR in line.
