A/C was struggling at 97 degrees yesterday in the city, thinking about the Blue Wire Mod. I have been reading about it more and more. Besides mounting the switch without damaging my dash what are the other pros and cons. I am not a fan of damaging factory wiring harnesses so I will use a tap with a spade connector. Does it cause any issues with the truck?
I just replaced the the fan clutch on mine, fan wouldn't come on with ac on max. Ac was weak in stop and go traffic. Checked the fan speed, it stayed constant at 650 rpms. New fan clutch, now fan speed goes to max on max ac and holds 8-900 rpm at idle. Ac back working normal. Still putting off doing the blue wire mod.
When towing my fan ramps up at 207, I am running the 200 degree thermostat, engine temps normally stay between 200 and 204. I have replaced the fan clutch and watch the FSS PIDS seems to operate normally. I also replaced the pressure switch behind the compressor.
I am wondering if the condenser is restricted, the pressures don't show that or with the high humidity and hot car the system cannot keep up. Seems to cool nicely under 95 degrees.
I’ve washed my condenser (and radiator) several times, when I've had the cooling stack both in and out of the vehicle. I’m always amazed how much dirt collects on them.
You can get coil cleaner at HD/Lowes and other places that is used on home A/C condenser coils. Its foaming and doesn't take long. For rinsing, you don't want a pressure stream, you want a shower spray.

shoot mine hovers at like 400 rpm at idle. I bet my clutch is toast.

Be sure that the air blend door is working -- also check that the water valve is closing off with the AC on max
Wash out the air stack as was mentioned , and check for bent fins -- air gotta get thru there
Does the fan RPM increase when the AC is turned on ?

I am going to clean the fins this weekend, I have a can of coil cleaner. Recirc helps the a/c.
The fan does increase in speed some but not like a traditional clutch fan, the PCM has to command it. Funny, it only really acts up at 96 degrees and higher, today it is 87 and it will cool just fine. It has also been very humid and add that to 96+ degrees and sitting in the sun it takes a while for the colder air to flow.
