Update: My relief valve blew again the day after my previous post. Truck was facing west in direct sunlight for 6 hours. Cranked it up, turned on AC max, started blowing before I could complete a three point turn. Big cloud of oil mist and what sounded like sandblasting a few doors down. It stopped as soon as I turned the AC off. Turned AC back on a few minutes later and it was cool but, as expected, not as cold. It's now about like it was before it leaked three weeks ago. It was real cold this morning with 89 degrees outside temps, but at 110 degrees it takes extended highway driving to make the cab cold enough to turn the fan down a notch.

Jack,
What is this replaceable high-pressure safety valve you mentioned?

And do we know what type of condenser was stock on these trucks? It has occurred to me that I may be overcharging the system if it was designed with a tube and fin type, and updated with a parallel flow type. That was the case with my wife's 2003 escape. Her updated condenser came with a hood sticker to overlay on the original that had a lower system refrigerant capacity. Does anyone know what capacity is for the 2007's which almost certainly came with a parallel flow condenser? My 2003 shop manual says 42 oz.

It should be this, I believe.

Number 5.

I can't help you with the condenser thing, that would have been a Sean task.

Only time that valve should pop off , is if the high pressure switch has failed to stop the compressor , and the system is overcharged

Thanks, Jack.

Looks like it should be part of the hose manifold. Gonna have to look because I don't remember that being there.

Yeah, it is. Easier than me crawling under the truck to take the picture.

Would be nice if I could get to that through the wheel well. Anything beats pulling the compressor ......... again.

What I posted was from parts site and shows the valve on the side of the block. This is from a video of a later model 6.0L and shows it behind. I think either way it may be accessible, especially with a leaf-spring truck.
