overhead console LED temp and compass question
My overhead LED compass/temp hasn't worked in years. At one point I took it down and, well it's been so long I don't really remember what I did, but I didn't fix it. (I probably did the soldering iron trick...)
Today I was using my scanner and trying to work out misfire issue when I saw the overhead LED was all lit up with the key on and engine off!
I don't remember seeing that before. (maybe I just never noticed?)
Anyway, it lights up in that condition with what looks like: -188(deg sign) VAR/CAL 00. (vehicle is facing almost due north)
So now I know the leds do have power and work. Question is why does it go out when the engine starts? Should I take it down again and hit the pins with a soldering iron?
What do you think?
thx,
Jim
