Old School PATS Key

My new to me truck has one of these keys with the "fob" stuff on it and I want to get a key that just has the PATS chip in it like the older trucks. Is this even possible? If it is do I need to get it programmed at the dealer or can a locksmith do this? My truck doesn't have remote start. Only lock/unlock and panic.

yes, you can get a PATS key. You will need to present keys to program the NEW key.. If you dont have two, then go to FORD or Lock Shop and they will have the key and program for you.

Alternatively, you can DIY with Forscan, a recommended adapter and the free two month (or paid) extended license once the keys have been cut. Any well-equipped mechanic or locksmith should also be able to program the truck to the keys.

I bought the license to replace the key to my truck. It paid for itself the first time I used it. A month later I had to replace my wife's key. That one came in free!
