2000 Excursion V10-Replaced Key/Key less entry/No Start!
I am in South Korea. I support the Army here. I have a Ford Excursion 2000 V10 and I lost my key and key less entry some months back. I ordered and received a new Ford replacement with the chip (from STRATTEC) and I also ordered and received a three button and four button key less entry( I have multiple now-all new). I found a Korean locksmith who cut a the key for me (it does turn from off to on easily) and he and I programmed it (turn 8 times, door lock etc) I also then programmed the key less entry (doors will lock and unlock, double lock will sound horn). The problem is it wont start and it looks like the alarm or pats will not disable either with the key or with the key less entry. I remember when I had my old key and remote it would always chirp when I locked it and double chirp when I unlocked it. I does not that do that anymore and I don't know what to to do. Please some one help..
In the Tech Folder is what needs to be done to program the keys for both the remote lock/unlock and for PATs (the anti-theft system).
If I read what you and the locksmith did and compare to the the programming process in the tech folder, I believe all you did was program the remote/fob to the vehicle to unlock/lock for keyless entry. Turning the key 8 times process does not program the key for the PATs/anti-theft.
So, the remotes/fobs have been programmed, but the keys have not yet been programmed for PATs from what I read.
until the keys are programmed for PATs, the vehicle won't start...
To program the keys for PATs, if you didn't have any keys, the locksmith needs to program at least 2 new keys using s scan/programming tool. the method for PATs noted in the post#1 in the tech folder works only if you have 2 keys...
I recently went thru this, but I only had 1 key. The locksmith reset and reprogrammed 3 keys for me (in case I lose one, i will still have 2 keys left to program another key myself)...
The 8 times on/off only works if you have two programmed keys and want to add a third key. If you only have one key you MUST have a compatible scan tool that can reset the PATS system. The only way around that would be to buy a 2000 F-Series PCM that doesn't have PATS.
