02-motor conversion??
I have a clean 02 2wd Excab shortbed that I just had the complete front end rebuilt and the rear diff with new gears/bearings. AC is cooold, tires are new with less than 5k on them. Truck has 256k on it. The 4.6 was in good shape, small oil leak. I gave it to my son and after about 8 months he spun a rod bearing. So my plan was to watch for a deal on a truck with bad tranny/wrecked etc with a good motor for a good deal. Then the Redneck in me shows up to the party....I have a good 300 six and C4 sitting in a container...Im a 300 nut and buy them where I get deals. So lets put the 300/c4 in, build brackets and driveshaft. Run wiring needed and new starter switch for the motor if needed. I can weld/fab motor mounts/crossmembers, etc. Id have the driveshaft built. I probably need adult supervision on this idea but i like it. I can always use it on the ranch to feeed cows etc if I have issues with inspection.
