Relay change question...

I'm having problems with crank no start on my 03 and I've changed the ignition switch, now I want to change the relay and diode in the fuse box, the relay is part #FOAB-14B192-AA and I was wondering is a standard quality relay the same thing or do I need the same part number.?

Looks like a normal five pin relay. By "standard" do you mean Standard Brand? Or just "plain old"?
Amazon Amazon
.
2003 allows crank, but no starting, when the PATS system is active. What is your THEFT light doing? You're changing parts but there's no sign that you've measured any voltages.

Good luck.

If it cranks, then the ignition switch and starting system are working. Do you have fuel pressure ?

Swap the suspect relay with an identical one that is non-critical to engine starting. MARK THEM FIRST!!!

There is insufficient information provided to determine if you're just guessing or have done any logical troubleshooting.

On the relay I meant plain old like I hook up lights and fan with, I watched a vid on You Tube and the relay and diode were the low cost fixes (maybe) before proceeding. My scanner said to replace ignition switch and program keys so I did, it didn't start the 3 times I tried and then it fired up, got it in the garage and it started 2 more times and then turning the key on the Theft light was blinking and no start, tried again and it started with no blinking light exactly like the video so I thought I'd try the parts change he suggested first and I haven't checked my fuel pressure because I assumed the blinking Theft light was an indication of a PATS problem.

Yes, but you don't know the "why". PATS symptoms are often a secondary symptom of whatever is actually wrong. For example, if both the cluster and the PCM do not power up together, PATS failure is a secondary symptom as PATS.

Does the digital odometer read mileage and is the check engine light on when the key is turned from OFF to RUN (not START)?

Describe what happens from before you insert and turn the key (what's the THEFT light doing), through turning the key On, to turning the key to Start. If you want more ideas. Looks like you must already know a lot if you've programmed new keys in to a new ignition switch. But, odd that you don't recognize a simple relay. No offense intended, we all have our own skill sets.

You can test a 5 pin relay pretty easily with a meter, a couple of wire leads, and a battery. Sometimes a nine-volt battery is enough. Plus there are probably relays that you can swap in the fuse box as a quick and cheap check.

Tell a detailed story and somebody will see something.

Unplugged the seat belt switch which was unplugged when I got truck, got rid of 3 DTC's and it's been starting up fine with no flashing theft light ever since not to say it will continue but as someone suggested the light on the cluster for the seat belt switch (which I believe was shorted) and the PATS was secondary. Thanks for the replies.

So, basically, a mystery. I start my 2003 often with the seat belt off. The engine starts then a "fasten seat belt" dinging noise starts. I also start it with the seat belt fastened. The seat belt won't cause a no-start.

Good luck though.
