1998 Engine Interchangeability
My '98 F150 has a 4.6,auto trans, 2-wheel drive, longbed, regular cab and may need an engine soon. It has a bit over 200K on it and is making a bit of noise that doesn't sound too bad but I want to be prepared. The VIN engine digit is a 6. I've found an '02 Marquis engine locally.
Elsewhere, it's been mentioned that there are differences in valve covers, exhaust manifoldsm, pulleys, intakes etc. Is this a practical swap or are there too many differences?

Ideally, you need another non Performance Improved version. 97-99(?) model F150 for sure with the coil packs mounted on each cylinder bank.
That would be the quick swap.
I’m sure there are intake adapters out there that Mustang type folks use, but that adds to the complexity.
