I've got a 1995 F350 XL supercab with the 5.8L and what I believe is an E4OD. Okay so I need to pull codes but my CEL doesn't work, or at least thats what I think is wrong cos I've come to believe my transmission is running in "limp mode"(way too rich, no acceleration, OD button blinks and it seems I'm on my way to slip city)
Previous owner, bless his heart, did me no favors when he fixed stuff. So what steps must be taken to return my CEL light? Or can I pull codes without it?
As mentioned above, you don't have to have a CEL to have diagnostic codes. Your CEL bulb may or may not be out. The blinking OD light means the Transmission has an issue and is probably in safe mode because of the issue but it can be many things. Run KOEO diagnostic codes First and when those are fixed go to KOER. If you have a E4OD you will have a E under TRANSMISSION on your door jamb sticker. It it is missing an E4OD will have 20 pan bolts. Post codes if you need help.
Is there any other way of pulling codes aside from reading the check engine light? I've pulled my instrument cluster and changed the bulb and the light flashes for a millisecond and refuses to light again
Get this scanner if it’s OBD1. Somebody will have to verify it’ll work on a 95. But on my 88 this scanner plugs in under the hood. 100% worth it wish I had gotten it sooner. Minute master used it on his aero nose truck so I’d assume it would work on yours
Alrighty so I ran the motor for a couple of minutes before killing it and running the koeo test as prescribed in the link and they are as follows 654, 556, 558, 622, 654, 556, 558, 622 and here I think it started reading from the memory 556, 634, 556, 634
