OTA software on '22, when?
I have received 3 over the air updates. The last one was at beginning of June and is at Ford Power-Up 3.5.4 update. I think that may be the latest update as I have not received anymore since that. Does anyone know if there are any additional Sync 4 updates? My Ford dealer did do all the FDRS updates that remained when I took it in for state inspection and Oil change in July (PDM,DDM,HVAC,WACM & TCU)
2nd question, does the Navigation maps update in the Sync 4 or is the map connected online and online the Navigation app updates but the Map does not require any updates ?
Thanks for your insights.

........ It's the only one that has to update via USB and I get the prompt that it is updating and then to restart the truck then sometimes it will just say "restart required" over and over every time I start the truck back up or it won't say anything at all and when FDRS checks it says the update failed. .
USB Update Procedure:
Certain modules need to be updated via USB flash drive. This is especially true for GWM, APIM and TCU update. FDRS tool will prompt you to insert a blank USB flash drive into your PC. Make sure the drive is formatted to exFAT. When naming your USB drive, make sure your volume label is 8 characters or less, alpha numeric only, no spaces. The tool will copy all necessary files onto the flash drive, once done, you will be prompted to insert it into your truck's USB hub under the HVAC controls. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully. It may take a while for the update process to show up on your SYNC screen, so be patient. FDRS will instruct you to have your engine on, while the your truck copies the update files from flash drive. I found this not necessary if your truck is connected to an external power source (battery charger/maintainer). Once done, you will see a Restart Required prompt on your SYNC screen. At this point turn ignition OFF and open the driver door. DO NOT REMOVE THE FLASH DRIVE. Wait at least 10 minutes, close the driver door and turn ignition ON. You should shortly get a message Update Successful and you can remove the USB flash drive at this point. Follow the instructions in FDRS to finish the update process. Make sure you battery is in good shape and is able to provide a consistent charge, otherwise you might get stuck in a "restart required" loop.
Made an appt. to get my oil change done and to see why it's not being getting over the air updates. Told them my sync 4 is at least 2 big updates behind (never updated at all that I have seen since new - Aug 2021). They changed my oil and said they hooked up the computer and found no updates for my truck. I told them they were wrong and it is not updating. Lady at the counter couldn't seem to care less (which is the same attitude I got previously) and said I needed to make an appt which is what I was literally standing there for making my appt the previous weeks.
Bought a programming interface and when that arrived I downloaded FDRS and paid for a 2 day license. Had about 7 modules to update (PCM, BCM, DDM, PDM, etc...). Got all of them updated except the GWM and from what I read that needs updated before the APIM (sync4) updates will show. GWM will not update for some reason and tried it all day long. It's the only one that has to update via USB and I get the prompt that it is updating and then to restart the truck then sometimes it will just say "restart required" over and over every time I start the truck back up or it won't say anything at all and when FDRS checks it says the update failed. . There is a failure option to try and update via the Diag port and it errors out trying it that way also.
Irritating to say the least...

Very frustrating.
Another issue I have, I set the automatic updates on the head unit, but according to Fordpass, it tells me to enable automatic updates on my truck. Go back to the truck, and the auto updates are turned on. I'm thinking this is the issuing preventing auto updates. If my Fordpass thinks the auto updates are off on my truck, I bet Ford's servers think the same thing.
I'm in the same boat. My truck was delivered Aug 2021 and I took it in for the latest recall and told them about missing updates. They said there are no updates for my Sync4.
Very frustrating.

My truck updated overnight after about 4 months of no activity. (The running boards reset to off when it happens.) This was after several days with the download/update icon showing on the screen. When I would select update now, it would say the update isn't ready. It is still showing the updating icon. Maybe Ford has released some updates this week.
I have been setting the parking brake as a habit to help the process along.

I'll try to check today. I don't believe it was a "power up", likely just a module. Last time I looked I was at 3.5.4.
Thats crazy. Don't know what is up with that, trying to move you back to level 3.5.3. I got 3.5.2 In April, then mid May got 3.5.3 and last was on June 4 got 3.5.4. Nothing since. Maybe 3.5.4 is the latest Sync 4 update for the 2022's. I see the 2023's are getting ver 4 updates like the Mustang and F150's. Hopefully Ford doesn't leave us hanging
I just had my truck at the dealer for oil change and open recalls. I asked about this issue as I had not received the update yet. They said I had a TCU (some communication unit) fault. They reset it and said if it happens again Ford has instructed them to replace the TCU. I will let you all know if I start getting any updates.
I'm being curious..... When did you take delivery of your '22?
I'm wondering if those who got them early in the MY cycle got updates sooner than those with later deliveries.
I got my truck in July '22 and so far no update. A friend who got his in late '21 got the 4.x upgrade months ago (probably back in April); his was a 7.3, mine is a 6.7; not sure if that matters tho.
