No I used the code scanner in my tuner but I also have a Bluetooth scanner I can use as well
Tuners are bad code readers - period.
Also, not all scan tools are created equal.
ForScan will read all codes. Torque Pro is very good also.
Not many others do all that well (except when you get into the expensive choices). Your truck, your call.
For the early engines, it was important for the PCM to "know" what the air flow is. Sometimes aftermarket filters allowed excess air flow with very little pressure loss (ie didn't filter as well). Might be contributing. That said, the MAF should take care of that.
