Hi folks. Speedometer stopped working. Unknown reason. Want to check the speed gear, undid the retaining bolt but cable won't come out of tranny casing. I know it's supposed to pull out, but I don't want to force it. Any ideas? Cable at the dash end seems ok.
72 f100 with 302 and c10(C4) auto, swapped over from 240 straight 6 and Np435 4 speed. Speedo stopped working not long after new drive line installed. Unsure if the mechanic used the old cable on the new setup, would they be compatible?
ok, so here's the problem. Worn teeth on the driven gear.
Also, here is the best pic I could take of the drive gear inside g/box. I've been told by someone on an Australian forum that this will now marry up to the plastic driven gear and is the reason why it was so worn/damaged.
Can anyone confirm?
Thanks for the comments.
Update: Bought a new driven gear exactly the same as was in there.
Installed and seems to be working fine. Maybe a little fast, so if I have to change it again, I'll go with an extra tooth or 2.
Thanks for the comments.
