I have seen a few Ford trucks running around with the "S" Sterling oval in place of the ford oval. I think this looks really cool/custom and would like to get a set for my 2002 Excursion - but i am having no luck. I called a sterling dealer - and they had no clue which ones would fit. I am sure SOMEONE on this site has them on their truck. All i need is a part number , and a place where i can order them from.
Please email me any info you might have at Joe_Caccavella@DSTOUTPUT.COM
There is a Mustang outfit called Steeda in South Florida, I think the "S" emblem just may be theirs, and not Stirling, I've seen lots of Mustangs sporting these badges.
Actually the Sterling badges i am talking about are from a Sterling medium/heavy duty truck. The Steda badges really dont look anything like the Sterling ones.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Aug-02 AT 06:00 PM (EST)]Why are you starting this up again? I gave you names, addresses and phone numbers of 3 or 4 Sterling dealers near you. Why can't you go to one of them yourself instead of expecting others to do it all? Get off your lazy butt and visit a Sterling truck dealer. That is the only place that has them. If you are going to ask for help, use the help that is given.
I don't want to offend you, and I don't mean to be insulting, but put a little effort into it yourself.
Got the part number from someone else on this board, who was actually helpfull. If you are tired of me asking this question , just don't post anything.People ask questions about exhaust and air filters over and over again , but no one bitches like you do about me asking a valid question. Myabe you need to get off the computer some and get outside, enjoy life, if you actually have one.....?
You are missing my point. You asked a valid question the first time and it was answered. Now, it seems you don't want to have to lift a finger yourself to get the parts. You are sitting around waiting for everyone else to do the work. I told you where to find them, including addresses and phone numbers in your area. This information didn't just fall out of the sky! I turned on MY computer and got the information for you. I could have used the time to do something for me, but I tried to help you instead. All you had to do was make a phone call, but apparently that was just way too much work. I am sorry I didn't call the Sterling dealers in your area to find out the part numbers and prices for you. Forgive me, I will try to do everything for everyone from now on. If you need help, ask for help. If you want others to do everything for you, state that in advance and I won't waste time trying to help you.
Big response their.....
I DID use the information you gave me , and i DID call the Sterling dealer in my area , and without a part number , I had no luck. Talked to a few different people and they all gave me the same response , no part number , no help. So i did get off my A$$ and lift a finger to get my parts for my truck. Don't go off on this high horse that I am the bad guy , and you were just trying to help. Why dont you get the whole story before you speak next time.....
Well, that being the case, I am sorry about how I misjudged you. I would have included that information in my post, however, so as not to give the impression of laziness. I would also have responded to the person giving me all the help with common courtesy and a thank you, along with the facts about the dealers being jerks.
The thing that doesn't make sense, though, is why you have to have a part number to buy a part at a dealership. If I were to take my Sterling truck into the dealership and tell him my emblem fell off, they would sell me one. I am a truck owner, not a parts guy. How are customers supposed to know part numbers. Something sounds a little fishy. Do you give part numbers to all parts department people when buying parts, or do they look the parts up in the books?
"Something sounds alittle fishy ? "
I like to be informed, and have the part number for EXACTLY what i want to order , no matter what it is. I guess thats just how i do business. Why risk the guy at the parts counter making a mistake , ordering the wrong part , then you having to send it back , etc.....
Do it right the first time, right ???
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Sep-02 AT 08:37 AM (EST)]Yup, I agree. Having the correct part number is wise. However, you trusted someone out in the masses, who has a greater potential for error than the professional that looks up Sterling parts all day, everyday, for years. When I go to Autozone, for example, and ask for a starter for a '79 460, they look up the part number and sell me the part. If they are wrong, that is their mistake. Where am I supposed to get the Autozone part number from and be assured it is correct before I enter the store? That isn't practical. Someone, somewhere, at sometime, has to look the number up in the book. Do you go into a restaurant and order a #3 without looking at the menu to see what a #3 is? If you order a part yourself from a mail order catalog from Summit or PAW, are you sure you are more qualified than the Summit or PAW sales guy to make sure you have ordered the right part?
That was the only point I was trying to make. If you don't trust the parts counter guy, why would you trust some complete stranger that flips burgers or does accounting for an office for the correct part number for a Sterling truck part? It would be pure he!l living like that, trusting nobody. Someone has to look it up at some point. Lucky for you it wasn't a critical part that is necessary for day to day operations. The next time your truck doesn't start, it might take weeks to get the right part number from a stranger so you can fix it.
Have at least a little faith in the people hired to do a job. Maybe you just encountered an idiot that treats all parts customers poorly. They aren't all like that.
I tried local dealers myself,They won't even look parts up unless you have a vin #.I'm an ex IH parts guy and I understand the vin deal but give me a break all those grilles have the same emblems.Mark
This will replace the front emblem in the grille. I found out that the rear ford oval on the back door is quite smaller than the front. I called the Sterling dealer , and they dont have a smaller S oval , so now i dont know what i am going to end up doing.
