How would a lifted x really do off roading. I did a little test on a ramp at the local 4 wheel shop. I went as far as she would go before the rear wheel came off the ground.
Depends what you call off-roading.
If you're a desert guy, I'd say no problem.
If you're an eastern (like me)...ouch. I wouldn't bring this HOW (House on Wheels:P) in tight wood trail, with super deep mudholes...
Russell,
I got my X lifted at the same shop in Santa Clara you did and I've gone through rivers, up shale mountain sides with 30 deg inclinations, and some fine Sierra trails. It will take more than you're prepared to give it with all the upgrades you've put on yours (I've seen your truck). He is right about the tight wooded trails and deep mud. loaded with gear you're typically up around 8000 pounds and that'll sink easily no matter how much hp you've got.
Sounds cool. Hey do you live around here? The only lifted X I have seen is a black on with flames on the side fenders. I do see alot of stock limited kid haulers all the time with moms giving me the eye with their mouths wide open.:P
I dont do any off roading, but would like to take it to Pismo sometime. Just to see how she would do in the sand???? sink????
No. I only bring it into town when I need to pick up something large. The X is a white/beige trim Limited with a Yakima extended roof rack and bike racks (gotta single track!) and Piaas on a sst push bar.
I wouldn't go too far in the dunes at Pismo unless you have onboard air and a 12k lb winch behind that bumper. Air down the Goodyears to 20 lbs, take everything out except your adventurous passengers and you MAY emerge victorious...
If you really want to appreciate your beast, take it up 50 or 89 to Tahoe during a blizzard
There is a slight vibration at take off from about 5 to 15 mph, then smooth after that. Only fix I've tried is add the Superchips to make it get past 15 sooner
It's so slight I probably won't do anything about it.
mine WAS really noticeable at higher speeds under load ( uphill acceleration especially) ... I had a double cardan u joint assy installed thursday and it fixed it.. ive got pictures and pricing info if needed ....
