2018 2WD F250 6.2 112,xxx miles. I rotated the tires the other day and saw the need for brake replacement on all 4 corners. Not terrible but due. So I went to NAPA online and got rotors and pads for the front to start. Picked them up at the local store. I opened one of the boxes for the rotors and discovered the rotor is also the hub. So I need an inner seal, inner bearing and outer bearing. I went on line at NAPA and might have found the seal. but didn't have much luck with the bearings. I called NAPA and the kid I got on the phone was, well, just lost. I bet he could have told me the part number for a fart can muffler for a KIA. I'm sorry that was uncalled for.
I tried looking it up on Fairway Ford but all I could find was rotor and seal assembly which is on backorder. But not a part number for the seal or bearings.
Has anyone replaced the front bearings and seals on a 2 wheel drive? Part numbers? Helpful hints on where I might find them?
PS the rotors have inner and outer races already installed right out of the box.
Ive always had great luck with Autozone and their Duralast parts. MotorCraft is my first choice but if a customer doesnt care ill get parts from the local Autozone. Just looked them up and they have a full listing of the parts your in need of. None were available at my local store but they had a 1-2 day ship to store timeframe.
In all honesty though, id reuse your original bearings if they do not have any markings on the rollers from lack of lubrication. If you do go with new bearings id suggest getting the bearing/race set and punching out the fitted races in the rotor replacing with the matching machined set bearing/race.
Yeah, 2WD trucks are old timey, not sealed bearing units like 4x4, and the races that are in the napa rotors, or any others you will pick up, are in there because they used them during machining when they were made.
So, yes, a very good idea to buy bearing sets and replace those races that came in the rotors.
As to where to get the right parts, or at least the part numbers, go to rockauto.com and look them up.
I find it pretty funny they have discontinued the rear rotors. I tried to order last month and no go. I did order factory front hub assemblies with rotors. Guess will have to go aftermarket for the rears.
OK so the fronts are all together!
Bearings: Autozone Duralast SET702 and SET703. These happen to be Timken part numbers. I know, I know.... made in china. like it or not that's where we're at. My father worked for Timken back in the '50s when it was USA. Go figure.
Rotors and pads from NAPA. I got their best. we'll see. Also got the seals there.
The job was pretty straight forward. Not too bad. Assembled the rotors and bearings ahead of time. No issues until I dropped a hand packed outer bearing on the concrete floor and F'n ruined it. Had to go get another one. No choice. Not for me anyway.
One thing to add: Be prepared. I put one of the rotors on the bathroom scale (momma wasn't home) 62lbs without the bearings!
I just did a 4 wheel brake job on my 2017 F250 4x4 using Powerstop brakes from Rockauto.com. Kit had all four rotors (drilled and slotted) and both sets of brake pads and the new rubber boots for the glide pins. After the dealer quoted me $479 per axle, I figured I might as well spend the bucks and get what I wanted instead of just cut rotors and new pads installed. At least I was able to make sure the brakes were done to my satisfaction the first time and they work great. Love the Powerstop brake kits. I priced out the same parts from Autozone and the cheapest setup (Duralast) was almost $900 for parts. It went up from there. The kit from Rockauto was $870 and there was a $30 rebate on it to boot. The front setup for the 4x4 is different than the 4x2 models, but the rotors are still heavy.
Good luck on the rears!!! Those rotors are heavy by themselves.
Glad to see you got it figured out. I was going to suggest you just pop the stock bearings out and get the part numbers off of them. You could then cross them to any brand you wanted.

Good idea. The only drawback would be if the bearings weren't readily available my truck would be down till I got them.

Thanks! It'll have to wait a week or two. I've got WAYYY too much going on right now.
