Morning, y’all. I’m new to this forum and would like to hear your recommendations on tires. I have a 2016 F-250 XL long bed. I’m currently running 245/75/17 tires on stocks wheels. I like the look of a larger wheel/tire combination but will likely stick with my stock wheels. I’m considering 285/75/17 KO2s. Thanks for sharing any thoughts or recommendations!
Michelin Defenders, stock size. Best tire I’ve ever run on any vehicle.
This ^^^
Might be a little pricey but remember the saying "buy once, cry once"
The miles I get out of a set of the Defender LTX beats anything else I've tried. The only thing is the newer "better" tread that Michelin came out with gave me about 10k less mile than the LTX so when I bought the last set I did have to look around to find the LTX .

I don't know how I did this, but I'm at 166k miles and only on my second set of Michelin Defenders. Yeah, time for a new set, which reminds me, I need to call the tire shop.
I ran the stock size KO2s on my 2007 F-250, 265-70/17. Great tire. Still had plenty of tread left at 30k when I traded the truck. They road quiet, but had firm sidewalls for towing. Dry, wet and snow traction were great. Ice traction was adequate.
Tire market must be competitive. Two shops are within $19.10 of one another. Still waiting for the Ford dealership to call me back with a price. At least Ford can perform a proper alignment on a rack in-house. All of the shops I reached out to couldn't handle a CCLB on their racks and suggested I call _____________ <-- insert reference there.

You think KO2s are quiet? Unless they completely changed the design, I'm not sure I'm on the same page. I thought they were loud and wore poorly. Admittedly, they were on a Grand Cherokee, not a full size truck.
the stock michelins that were on my truck were crap for anything other then the street and only made it 30k miles. 4wd was needed any time i went off road to go out hunting or hauling firewood. granted 16k of them were from a prior owner who probably didnt rotate tires.
I have had several Super-Duties, several Dodge/Ram HD trucks, and some lighter duty trucks. I have tried Coopers, Michelins, BFG's, Toyos, and Generals.
Here's what I'm going to say: it depends on what you want to do with the truck.
If it's going to spend most of its time on pavement and towing heavy, you can't go wrong with the Michelin LTX's. I had them on my F350 dually, and it did great. Tires wore well, handled the loads great, and was very stable while towing. It sucked offroad though, if I didn't put it in 4WD.
If you're going to be doing more off-road type travelling, or have to deal with heavy snow, I have used the BFG KO2's, and really liked them. They were pretty stable even when towing, got pretty decent mileage (about 60k with proper rotations), and I didn't lose much mileage. I could get pretty far off-road without 4WD too. Really only deep snow or mud needed 4WD. They were louder than the Michelins, but in a diesel I didn't really notice.
Then I found the General Grabber AT2's (they now go by ATx). Almost exact same tread as the KO2's, when I first found them they were about half the price. Today the price is only $50 cheaper or so. I've actually gotten about the same 60k out of them, great off-road, about the same noise level as the BFG's. I've had MULTIPLE sets of these, I'm putting them on my wife's F150 in a week or so, and I'll be putting them on my PowerWagon too.
Bought my f350 new in 2004, and after all these years and all the different tires I've had. Hands down the best ones by far are my Falken wild peak at3w! These tires are absolutely amazing and when they are in need of replacement, I'm putting a new set right back on
I've been happy with my Firestone Destination XT in LT275/70R18E. I needed something with a slightly more aggressive tread for my uses. Another truck (not a Ford) has the General ATx in LT265/70R17E that have been fine so far; noticed they do tend to pick up small rocks. Remember to check company websites for rebates/gift cards.
