wheels and tires

I have a 78 f-150 2wd truck i'm wanting to put bigger wheels and tires on it and I was thinking about putting 17" wheels on it. If I put 17" wheels on it what size of tire would I have to have? thanks

if you want the biggest size possible you could probably go with 265/70-R17. that's equal to a 32" tire.

a 32" tire is the biggest tire i could fit under the truck with out modding the truck any in the front right?

you might be able to get a little bigger tire, but not much bigger.

I have a pic of a 75 F250 4x2 with no lift and 35 inch tires. let me find it.

Yeah, those 35s are about as big as you could fit under that truck

A 235/55r17 would retain the stack wheel height so you could take more advantage of your larger rims. Just thought this may intrest you.

Me? I would put stock tires and wheels on it, and enjoy the fact that it is stock factory original unblemished, unmolested and does not look like its some kid's big wheel toy, but thats me.

Don't get me wrong, some of the trucks on here with the BIG meats and after market rims look REAL nice, just not my cup of tea. Do what trips your trigger, and what your wallet allows, and make yourself happy!!
