Have an 05 f350. Just replaced the motor and now motor will not crank and the gear indicator is missing on the IC. It’s a King Ranch so isn’t the gear indicator a digital highlight?
disconnecting the wire at the right battery and shorting to positive does crank the motor and engine starts with key on. TCM does show correct gear selection with scanner but IC doesn’t show anything. It does show P0117 intermittently and gauge is pegged for temp. Would that preclude engine start?
Look for a loose shift lever. Shift bushings in the shift lever wear out. Also the shift bracket under the steering column gets loose. All that adds up to a loose shift cable. This can cause a no-crank.
So, will you get a crank with the shift lever in any position? Maybe the Transmission Range Sensor is bad?
I’ll look into it starting in any gear. With the PCM/TCM showing the right gear selection, is this still reading from TRS or is that coming from a different source?
