Crank timing gear

Well its time to replace the crank gear prior to putting every thing back together. I searched the forum and found some information saying the crank gear has two holes drilled in it for easy removal, Well this one I have does not have any threaded holes. So, Just to ensure I have it right I will use a bearing puller to remove it. It looks as if I can squeeze it behind the back of the gear and the block. Does anyone have any other means or tips aside from pulling the crank which I would like to rule out as an option. Any advice or reccomendations are welcome. Thanks

wHAT YEAR, I just finnished putting everything together on my
;85. Did u remove the thrust plate that is where the two threaded bolts go.....

Its an 86. The Cam gear is already done, no problems there, just working to reomve the small drive gear on the crankshaft, well I'll try a little heat and see how that works

Well, a litle bit of heat, a clean pickle fork and a few taps with a hammer got it far enough away from the block to use a standard gear puller, success!!
