OK. too many nooks and crannies to easily strip all the paint off. I tried giving it another round today but found that the remaining paint that I can't reach w/ my hands will also not easily burn off. In the pic, I've blue'd the metal w/ the torch and the paint remains. I guess plan C will be to install the headers as is since I need to break in my new engine anyway, drive around for a while, remove the headers once the rest of the paint is burned off and then repaint.
Anyone else w/ a better idea? plus the idea of using a torch along the entire long tube header would take forever.
I never heard of any permanent header paint, and no matter what I did, it always ends up temporary. White or silver looks good only newly done, bioth will look bad in time and it's hard to repair a finish without overspray. If painting, black is best in my experience. Easy to spot clean, sand lightly, touch up and use a piece of cardboard to keep the overspray off the whatever.
