High Heat Header Paint?

Alright fella's we all know that when you buy painted headers the paint burns off, and that's just a given. So my question to you is did you ever use a different type of header paint and did it work?

After sanding like a mad man and getting all the rust off, I went down to my local canadian tire and I got a spray can of silver "high heat engine enamel - with ceramic". Now this is normally known as header paint cause that's what most guys call it. I was using it and noticed that on the can it says NOTE: to achieve maximum hardness and heat resistance cure at 300*F for 2 hours.

I was just wondering if anyone else had baked their headers in an effort to make the paint last longer. Oh and btw it stunk so bad in the kitchen, my mom was spazzing! But it was all good!

Hmm I would post a pick if I could, but they could be mistaken for chrome or stainless steel if far enough away. I coated them about 15 times and although there is alot of paint on them, one header has been baked so it can withstand 1200*F. I mean I'm not sure if the paint will stay long but it's alluminum colored and looks really tough. Better than black, at least when I pop my hood these babies'll be noticable. Hahah, anyone else used the paint? I'm going to cure the other one next.

What I have done in the past is heat the headers using a cutting torch inside the tubes, then paing them quickly and the paint sticks to them like glue. It's hard to have any header paint stick on forever but I used to get over a year out of BB and it ran very hot. Just be careful when heating them that you don't overdo it and melt a hole in a tube.

Cool, that probably would work really good. Except I'd be worried about getting the header too hot. I would have thought that the baking thing would be the best route tho, cause there is ceramic in the paint.
