I just started my truck, and it was at the typical first start 1500-1800rpm and then it started to idle down to the typical 800-1000. But this time it did it way sooner than usual after 30 seconds. It tried to die and then it went back to the high idle like I just started it. Then it acted normal and went back down to the warmed up idle. It’s got new cap rotor and plugs. The rotors duralast which I despise but it’ll do.
miles since last throttlebody/IAC cleaning, check for codes, plug wires going bad?
I’ve sprayed brake clean in throttle body a while ago 2-4 months since it had a no start condition. I haven’t checked the rest I don’t have a CEL on.
I don’t think wired are bad. Where would I get motocraft ones? I didn’t see any last I looked them up.
My 95 had a weird idle since I bought it. Wasn't really rough, but just a little choppy. I installed a new IAC valve this past weekend. It made a world of difference. Shes smooth as silk now.
When I removed it the valve came away from the gasket clean and the gasket stayed in place on the manifold. I reused it as it was in perfect condition.
I cleaned the IAC and sprayed throttle body cleaner in it. And the throttle body. I disconnected the battery for 5 minutes. And now I’ve ran it in neutral for a few minutes, now I’m running it in gear. The computer learned the IAC again and it’s running 10x better, and the high idle is good and the low idle is even better now.
I want to clean some more stuff, to help the idle. It's not completely smooth but its a lot better. For the MAP sensor do I just get electronic cleaner and spray it with it and put it back in? Can I clean the EGR with ease? Does the EGR take any gaskets? Can I use brake clean on the EGR? Its had a tune up, so is there anything else I can clean to help it?
