The only difference between the MC and the Purolator Premium Plus filter was the size of the filter media, 400 in2 versus 316 in2.
The paper media and all other construction details were the same. You will note that the author indiacted the that larger media in the MC was so tightly packed together that he doubts that the flow through the media was any better than with the smaller media in the Purolator.
The Wix media was also paper and was 349 in2.
The only filters to use synthetic media were the Purolator Pure One and the Mobil 1.
That filter "study" has been making the rounds - and ownership has been claimed by about 20 different people. I'm not so sure I'd put all that much stock in it.

Agreed, and it might be getting a bit old too.
But unless someone monkeyed with the pictures, they tell most of the story.
I'm not saying that the MC and Purolator aren't different, but there is no evidence that there is any significant differences.
Also, as at one other person has understood, my point is that you are foolish to value the filter based on price alone.
If some had bought the Purolator at PepBoys for $11.99, no one would say that it is a "cheap" filter.
Now buy the EXACT SAME filter at Sears for $2.99, and suddenly it becomes a "cheap" filter that must be no good.
Now as to whether the "cheap" Purolator is better or worse than the Wix, that I cannot speak to. But if NAPA put its oil filters on sale for $2.99, would we be getting all of this bugle oil about the NAPA filters being too cheap and therefore, could not possibly be of high quality?
how come everyone says not to use amsoil??? im not a dealer but a preferred customer. ive used this oil for years in all my stufff. even stihl chainsaws, 2 highly modded four wheelers, snowmobiles what ever and have never had a problem. as for price you guys say it costs way more well thats not true for synthetics its actually cheaper than most all the other synthetics. i dont do the extended drain i just like the synthetics for there added protection.
