I can’t blame the guy. He was ultra helpful but people often demanded his help without doing a bit of searching on their own. Add in a few people that would argue semantics with him…
I’m glad he provided the info he did and I’m glad other members (such as Rich) keep the forum running by answering questions and posting diagrams.
Here are a couple of some of my favorite's quotes from him.
1. “The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.”
2. "Quality of parts are like oats. There are new oats and used oats. New oats can be bought at feed stores, used oats can be found out on the road, after the horse passes by."
I can not remember if he ever said this below, but I like them, and I could see him saying them for sure. And toss in a for improper terminology. I got the Questionably Frowny Face award alot. Much like the W.T.F (Wrong Terminology Friend).
3. "Have you heard of "whole sight?" It's seeing the entire picture using the mind and emotion rather than one or the other. Whole sight prevents instances like we are having here."
4. "Don't mistake my personality for my attitude. My personality is who I am, my attitude depends on who YOU are."
During my time on FTE, I used to search through all the recent threads just to see if he posted in them. His words and knowledge was dentside gold. I totally understand why he changed things up for himself. Good luck to him and I hope he's still doing good.

I can understand his frustration with that. As an engineer, it’s one of my pet peeves and also a way that I judge a new guy as to whether or not he’s going to be able to haul his own weight. If a greenhorn asks me a question, the first thing I respond with is “Show me where and how you looked for the answer”. If he comes back with nothing I tell him that the depth and detail of my answer to his question is directly proportional to the effort that was made to solve the problem independently.
This forum often times doesn’t turn up the best search results (searching the forum with Google actually works better), so I understand when occasionally a simple question that could be solved independently pops up, but when it’s perpetual I know that’s very annoying and also a waste of time. Sad to see the guy go. Grateful for those who remain.
I can’t imagine the Facebook users being more diligent or thoughtful. I was a member of several dentside groups on Facebook. The number of scammers and trolls prompted me to leave the groups and platform. Each unto his own.
I am sure the FB folks are open arms to his "brashness"..... that is the most polite word I can use. I mean he is a great guy and he sure does know his parts.
My first write to ND,I felt like I was scolded.........As time went on and i worked on my truck his words ring true ,,,,,,might be the last piece they need to complete their project...It was over the cost of a steering wheel ,and how i thought it was so expensive......it was a bump wheel ,in real good shape with chrome bezel .The cost was like 300$,,,,,,,I see them being restored. for like 1700$

X-10 My opinion exactly.
I would not be too hard on members asking questions as I have tried to search this site at times and it ends up so convoluted I just start a thread to get answers.
I feel the search issue on here could be GREATLY improved if they (whoever they are) would spend the time and think about it..
It would be a wonderful improvement if it worked. better.
Regarding the search capability of the site, I would recommend using Google. I find the search below to be most useful…. Just replace XXXX with your search phrase.
