2002 F-250 5.4L CCLB 4WD:
Gotta code for O2 sensor, pass. side near exhaust manifold. What a bitch to replace. The famous "Y" pipe is in the way among other things. Trying to heat the daylight out of it, always works for nuts and bolts. But this time, No Bueno. Heat cherry read, spray PB Blaster......can't get it to budge. Next up, cut the wire, slip the 12 point wrench over the top and use another wrench to get added leverage. Last resort is to remove the "Y" pipe to get accessibility. I will update. And yes, nothing is done simply even though a guy posted his repair on Youtube. Too many variables at play.
I ran into the exact same situation. Didn’t want to risk peeling the bung out of the pipe so I dropped wye pipe, was much easier with it out on garage floor. Good luck.
Replacing the sensor due to a MIL code is not a wise idea. What diagnostics did you do to conclude the sensor is faulty? For every 10 vehicles I see with a sensor code, nine of them are due to other issues.
