I was checking codes today and my innova obd1 reader became disconnected while in test mode... do I need to be concerned about any electronics being impacted by that? Truck started up and idled fine after. Haven't had a chance to run it around yet. Should I be concerned?
Should be fine. It becoming disconnected is no different then hitting the off button during the test. This past weekend I tested mine with the same reader. It showed like 8 times in a row 6 cylinders instead of the actual 8 cylinders the truck has. Each time I switched it off in test mode with no ill effects. Took multiple attempts for it to read the proper cylinder count so don't be surprised if that happens to you as well. Many online posts I have read shows that issue with that tester.
You didn't do anything to the truck by the reader becoming disconnected while running codes. If you were running KOEO codes when it happened and the reader was in code display you probably cleared the hard and memory codes. KOER mode would have no effect either. This also has no ill effect and any codes you had should come back after you drive it again. Drive on...
Well, it's plug and play
And it's Fords way of pulling codes
Follow the instructions and away you go
Good luck
Your reader is going to work (most likely) and the trouble comes (even for me) (after all these years)(is operator error)
You have to have the clutch depressed on the manuals and other parameters sometimes must be met, or codes for your mistakes will follow
The goose test is sometimes hard to did with the aftermarket obd1 scanners

I looked on Ebay and I only saw one Star II that was for sale and it was 320.00 used. The INNOVA for the ford is about 33.00. What does the Star II do for that price that the Innova doesn't do. I'm all for better tools but the difference is significant and I don't know if is justified. Clue me in on the benefits over the Innova. Thanks
Just keep looking, that guy must think his is gold or something
Not sure what all the superstar does that yours does not
I got mine exclusively for Lincoln air ride systems and my NGS does all my powertrain stuff
I bought mine from a fellow ford tech for 40 bucks
Keep looking and at yard sales etc.
