To remove the T18 you shouldnt have to touch the clutch. Remove the drive shaft, backup light, speedometer, stick shift, removable hump(floor), 4 bolts, cross member bolts and the two bolts from the trans mount. Lift the tranny with a tranny jack(preferably), pull out the cross member, slide it back and lower it out. When I pulled mine from my 72 f250, I just reached in the cab with my engine hoist and stapped to it. I then disconnected everything except the stick shift and lowered it down onto a dolly and rolled it out. The engine was already out so I didnt have to seperate the two though.
The only time you have to mess with the linkage is if you have to pull the bell housing to replace the clutch.
I dont know what motor or how your linkage is but my 81 with a 300 six the Zbar is on the frame and to the block pivot so you just have to shorten the adjuster from the clutch fork to the Zbar and leave the rest where it is.
I think the 80's v8's the motor side pivot is bolted to the bell housing with a bracket.
Shorten the adjuster from the clutch fork to the Zbar, unbolt the bracket from bell housing and leave the rest where it is.
You should then be able to remove the bell housing and get to the clutch assy.
I cant see your year truck being much different.
