Can't get tranny out for clutch job

Hello, I'm trying to remove my transmission for a clutch job. Have everything unhooked but the shifter is hung up preventing me from getting transmission out. I have removed the upper portion of the stick shift (2 star bolts) but the little stub is hung up--can't push the transmission back against engine and can't lower transmission cause of the shifter stub.

Can an I remove the stub from the top of the transmission without damaging anything? Looks like 6 screws to loosen it but I'm not sure if it will come out or not???

Thanks!!

Yes remove it it will never come out if you don't remove it, just buy some RTV to reseal it,

After the 6 bolts have been removed, there will be some sealant that needs to be broken loose. After that, it will come straight out. Until recently, that is how I had to fill my ZF6 with fluid.

Perhaps the previous owner had put some RTV or something on the mating surface of mine, I have no idea. I just know that I was very happy to learn I could fill the fluid from the top after I had drained it out of the plug and realized that the fill plug was seized in place. SkySkiJason had to weld a bolt to the fill plug and use a large breaker bar in order to get the fill plug out. I have since replaced it with a new one and it works as intended.
