Looking for help in buying a solid manual for 73-79 4wd 150’s and 250”s
I now have a 4th Truck and in dealing with the volume of issues between them I really need information like a factory mechanic formally trained by Ford would be privy to
chilton manual is a joke
my daughter calls it the useless book
I have seen a few manuals on em but also know the guys in here know what’s best
Yes Chilton and Hayes books leave a lot to be desired, but always nice to have one handy as a back up in case you are desperate and NO ONE on FTE has the answer, at night, past midnight, and you need the truck fixed now. And your new manuals have not came in yet....
X2 there are web purchased CD's and even paper manuals available.
You are exactly right about the usefulness of Haines and Chilton manuals....they only tell you half what you need to know. Nowadays I only rely on them for torque specs if I don't Google it. Before the advent of the interwebs you only had those manuals or a chance meeting with someone who has done the particular job your looking to know about. It's so nice to have these forums to read and find/get info without blindly diving into a project only to find out later that there was a way to do it in half the time for half the cost. I have found it to be invaluable. Hardly ever crack those manuals open anymore as whatever info I need...I just Google it or post it up on here and someone will chime in and share the crucial info I'm needing. I've yet to come across someone on these forums that didn't know the answer or a solution...and I've been a member here since 2004.

You did not have to quote me 3 times. its all good though. I do not know about the rest of the internet, but I know that FTE has some solid folks on here for sure.
Get original Ford paper sets. Used are fine if all there. If the cloud goes down or you drop your phone and the lights go out, all you need is a candle and your Ford manual. None of the electronics will last, not a doom sayer. just someone that has an attic of 8 tracks, cassette tapes and vhs tapes. I'm going to stock up enough DVD players to last my life.
All you need is the guys on this board. I try not to abuse them for my issues, but I have yet to need help, and not gotten any here. Great group of guys, no doubt.
Cheers to you dudes that always try to help! You know who you are.
