Thanks. My batteries are going past 4 1/2 years old and I am going to replace them.

I get deep off the paved road so I like to keep equipment in top working condition. Five years on the Motorcraft acid spitters is pushing it for me.

All you need is Simple Green and a standard garden hose nozzle. Spray the Simple Green on the dry engine really good and then hose it off.

I was going to suck out as much as I could from the brake reservoir with my turkey baster and replace with new fluid but these reservoirs can't be accessed with a baster like old reservoirs. I guess next brake pad replacement which will be soon I'll just bleed from all the calipers and add the new fluid.

A little motivational pic from @FishOnOne of his super clean engine got me to do my engine. This is the first time I actually cleaned my engine since my '99' F250 which was 3 trucks ago and over 500k miles ago. I used Simply Green sprayed on everything with a lite brushing on the heavy areas with some lite spray down at the diy car wash. A rag with armor soaked with a good engine parts message.

I must admit it's pretty clean now for the first time around and 162k miles next time will be even better.

@FishOnOne thanks for the motivation

Damn, looks great. No issues after spraying it to rinse? Just avoid the main electrical connections?

Just didn't use full power of the spray gun on the plug wires, alternators or main connections on the fire wall. No problem starting the engine after.

Date with the truck today.

Oil change, air filter, rotate tires and brakes job front and rear. Time to put some coffee down the gullet and beat the heat...suppose to be 95f and sunny today.

Task completed. Just under 5 hours but not a bad view for those water breaks.

163,347 odometer ( 7,511miles) 25%, engine hours 4,173, idle hours 1,337.

Oil changed. Front & rear brakes changed. Engine air filter changed. Tires rotated. Shouldn't have to do brakes again till end of next year at 230k +/- miles.

Edit... Porterhouse to finish the day off. 😀

I was thinking about this weekends maintenance cost which was maybe $75+/- more than it should of been if I could of ordered from Rock auto but I've been a moving target lately and getting things delivered somewhere wasn't possible. This time on my travels back to the 5th wheel stopping at a nearby O'Reilly (60 miles away) I picked up the front/ rear brakes and air filter. Funny thing about air filter many places didn't have one in stock but could get next day. Procrastination cost 😪 but than taking it into a shop instead of diy cost alot more than $191.97. 🙃

Fronts were getting thin.

Did you stick with the Motorcraft Blend oil again? If I remember correctly, you had run synthetic for the one fill and the oil analysis wasn’t that great with the synthetic.

Walmart didn't have any of MC5w30 on the shelves which I was bummed about and definitely didn't want any Penzoil so I went with Mobile 1 5W30 full synthetic and MC oil filter. I think I'm going to do an oil sample after this one to see how it holds up against the 2 previous oil samples. It was a $1 more per 5 quart jug compared to the MC. Not bad as a synthetic but the oil sample will determine if any good.

Plus at a 170k miles we'll see if anything odd is happening in the engine.
