Another oil change done.

117,522 odometer (8,522 miles) 15%, engine hours 2,986, idle hours 939.
One or two more changes and we'll do another Blackstone report.

Edit: Wally had Motorcraft oil filters on the shelf, FL-820s this time.

Crawled under the truck for another oil change this morning.

124,050 odometer (6,528 miles) 35%, engine hours 3,159, idle hours 993.

A little earlier than I normally would do but I'll be racking up alot of miles in the next 6 weeks and with snow in the forecast were I'll be I don't want to be thinking of changing the oil.
Wally didn't have Motorcraft 5w30 so went with some Pennzoil 5w30 high mileage full synthetic oil and Motorcraft filter this time.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Most of the internet thinks you should be on your third engine.

l do the same thing before winter hits. Change the oil on all the vehicles to get through the worst of the weather even if they are not due.

LOL about the 3rd engine. By many driving these Fabergé egg engines I've done many death sentence things to the engine but no different than any other new truck I had with hundreds of thousands of miles.

Didn't change the oil out at the 250 mile, 500 mile, 1000 mile when new. 8,284 mile first oil change.
Set cruise control on 840 mile drive after picking up from dealer in a different state when new.
8,000-10,000 mile oil intervals.

This truck will do 8-16 hour drives at 70-85 mph with nothing but fuel stops and maybe a bladder empty early morning.

It's a beast of an engine and enjoy driving the truck with the giddy up go power. Engine still quiet with no ticking or odd noises.

Transmission smooth as silk shifts,

I buy my trucks to work... I also take care of my trucks, because without them I DON'T work.

To be honest, I don't completely trust Ford, it's suppliers, it's production, or it's assembly... but it is what it is. Part of that, I'm sure, is still being bumhurt by my '17 2500HD puking the transmission, among other issues. Part of it is I just really don't trust all this new electronically-controlled crap. I guess that's the world I live in.

I agree, however, this truck is one highway cruising vessel! ...love the power, love the ride.

Another oil change done with MC 5w30 and MC filter.

132,269 odometer (8,219 miles) 18%, engine hours 3,355, idle hours 1,049.

Took an oil sample on this change and sending it in to Blackstone. Better or worse I'll post up the results. We'll see how it compares to the last oil/ TBN sample 42k miles ago. This sample though will be from the Pennzoil 5w30 high mileage full synthetic oil I used because MC 5w30 was mia on the shelf. 8,219 miles on the oil, 196 engine hours, 56 idle hours should be a good testing point.

I took a pic of the 2 containers with the used oil in them before taking them to Wally world. I only put 8 quarts in at changes and no oil added since last oil change.

Just shy of the 4 quart mark on the containers.Very little consumption in 8,000 miles.

This pic was taken on the 2nd of this month and still showing in the middle of the hash marks.

I posted these because many say they have to add 9 quarts. If adding 9 are you guys filling to the top of the hash marks? Manual only calls for 8 quarts.

I think so too, I mean my 2005 f150 5.4 3v was never opened up and I sold it at 127,000. That right there should be proof enough as my neighbor bought it and it's still quiet at 135,000 miles but, he changed oil and brands. I suggested that he stay with the 5w20 MC but he won't listen to me.

I put about 8.25 quarts in and I was right at the top of the hash mark

I just checked mine yesterday and it was in the middle of the hash at 4k miles on the oil and I only dump in the 2 gallon jugs and haven't ever had to add any. Since changing my oil the front crank seal on my truck started leaking Im at 31k miles so thats getting fixed this week.

Would of thought by '22' the replacement seals would of been installed from factory. Must of had a bunch of engines with old seals.

I'll have to look when I get back but I'm pretty sure my engine was made in 05/??/2022. My truck was built 06/06/2022. I've had zero TSBs and zero recalls on my truck since new but it has the symptoms of multiple different TSBs for either only 2020s or only until certain build dates before mine in early 2022. I dont even beat on my truck like I have trucks in the past because it makes plenty of power to move my 5th wheel. Not like my 460/c6 doing 25mph and 5k rpm in 1st gear trying to climb the pass givin her all she's got.
