Hello from Germany
I think the lock strip gasket started in 77 or 78. if you're going to replace the gasket, I'd just get the locks trip one with the chrome lock strip . it looks better anyway.
So, a chance to get an inspection cam in there and maybe doing some further rust prevention.
Why would you close them by welding? Would it not be helpful to have an "entry" in the rocker? Or dou you consider it as a weak point ?
Another point:
How long does shipping last via normal shipping with let's say USPS? For example from Dennis Carpenter in NC to California. And if they talk about "shipping flatrate", they really do mean all across the US ?
I really have to figure out what shipping is like in the US. Way different to the german level I am used to, with Germany being about 900km from North to South and 640km from West to East. What is ca, 357.000 km²
So, California alone is a bigger area.At least a direct international shipping from the east coast is cheaper then getting the parts to California first. Small parts at least.
Ok, got you.
Thank you all for your replies.
I tried to get some information in the forum about the different weatherstripings and seals and their qualitiy, but seems as it depends.
But overall there is no supplier whose seals always absolutely fits for sure. Sometimes they fit good and sometimes they fit not perfectly as it seems.
But at least you wouldn't do anything wrong with DC as it seems.
So I got this first list of parts. Are these the right parts?
Does the seal for the rear window fit on a slideable one? Seems that this is a thing sometimes.

If your rear slider is OEM it might be a problem, my installer say he hasn't found a gasket that fits the original ones. I have an NOS slider but I haven't tried because of this. I know it's true on a chevy, not positive on the Ford. maybe someone here knows for sure. it's the gasket not the window, Ford used the same gaskets on both, the repop gasket is the issue.
At Dennis Carpenter there is a Cab to frame mounting set which says "only for 2wd"
So I looked at broncograveyard and they do have a set, too. Without any note regarding 2wd or 4wd. But it looks like the same kit.
Or is it just some kind of default picture there?
Does anyone know if it's capable for 4wd?
Or where to get one that fits for sure?
Thanks and best regards
Patrick
Hi everyone,
today at 4:30 AM Californian time the vessel departed in Oakland and is now on its way to Germany.
It already reached the open sea, so wish me some good winds. Estimated time arriving in Germany is mid december.
Here is a webcam picture that shows the start of the journey: (Yeah, good eyes or some fantasy needed, but you can see it...)
Have a nice day everyone of you

It finally arrived in Hamburg, Germany last Friday. What a trip..
But it's not completely done yet. Takes about 2-3 more weeks to get all the import stuff done and getting it shipped to my place. Christmas vacations and stuff coming along..
But I want to use the time to do some research getting it street legal.
As a major part the authorities need some official specs regarding its power, such as the rated speed, or the top speed.
Are there any official information regarding a 351M in a '79 F250 4wd manual?
Regarding all the varieties I can imagine that doesn't exist for every individual specific vehicle the engine was transplanted to? Right?
I found the following in the FTE engine section:1980
351M (truck only)
138 @ 3400 hp
263 @ 2000 tq
Is that something to deal with?
(Some official FoMoCo stuff would be better though
)Thanks for your help
Pat
As far as the "authorities" that's something I'm not sure were you could find it...
Power - it has some
Rated speed - as fast as it will go which is 85 according to the speedo...
Top speed - as fast as you can push it and still feel safe
with a tailwind.. downhill lolsome info from wiki - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_F...th_generation)
Maybe, just maybe you'll "get him" before next year?!
