Hello from Germany

If you get set up for self recovery, rear up on ****** blocks and cable weights. Sand bag like winch cable weight.
I will get some good pictures here in the next few days, he's not a show truck, and he's not a bucket of rust either. Tags and title are all clean, I drove him home, just got a rebuild kit for the carb as it has a surge while driving. I bought it for a friend of my BIL, as he was looking for one, he ended up spending a lot more for one and is still sorting out problems with it, he wanted a manual, but settled for an auto. Anyways, it's a good solid truck, was used on a ranch out here for the last few years to feed cattle and wood cutting. Fortunately and unfortunately, these trucks have gone up in price the last few years, I'm not looking to make money on this like I was when I was buying/fixing and selling as a hobby, especially with you having the added cost of shipping, I'll send you a pm with my contact info. Don't feel obligated if it's not what you are looking for, you find the best truck to fit your needs at the best price for you. Welcome to FTE BTW, hope we can assist you in your journey to joining the rest of us old truck addicts!
Joe
so, after having some very nice and kind mailings and conversations Joe and I got a deal for his '79 F250 4x4.
Thanks NM76F150 for giving the hint and again thank you Joe for your time and the patience.
Joe supports me with loading spare parts in the truck so that they can be shipped in it. Meaning it's time for me now to organize the parts that I already know as needed.
Therefore I hope for your help guys. I got the main part sellers like Dennis Carpenter, LMC, broncograveyard, etc. but wanted also to ask you guys if anyone has some parts that I need and is willing to ship it to Joe. Easiest way to pay to private citizens would be Paypal imo. Is that common in the US?
On online shops VISA should be no problem I guess.
Soo if anyone has some advice, suggestions or further information here, please feel free to let me know.
Now here are the parts I need/would like to have:
1. Dashpad, black (that cheap one available would do the job)
2. Set of side markers
3. An inside mirror
4. All the seals for the cab (windows and doors)
5. Cab mount rubbers
6. FORD letters for the hood
7. FORD logo for the steering wheel.
8. Number 9 chrome side mirrors (not a must, but would be nice to have)
9. A black instrument cluster casing (not a must have but would be nice to have)
That should be the first most important parts for me to get it on the street and to give it the first love this winter.
And still thinking of eventually doing a grill swap. How much are good conditioned 73-77 grills roundabout ? Especially the chrome frame would be a thing to ship within the truck due to its size
Thanks so far and have a nice day you all
Patrick

I concentrate on DC and JBG for now, as I resumed that these are some of the vendors to go with.
At JBG I saw some types of dash pads. There is one option where you can choose the color, but it seems that those are some kind of "cheaper" plastic models whereas the other one are of better quality with vinyl surface.
Did I get that right? And if so, DO the look like poor quality plastic and black vinyl would be the better choice?
And I saw that there different sizes of the inside mirror. Which size was OG? Is it better to have a wider one in a truck? Do the 12 inch mirrors fit with the OG sunvisors at least?
Take care
Patrick
Stay away from the cheap repops , the best ones aren't always that great. the quality US made pads are good, the ends need to be a little longer, but it is what it is, the best of what's available.
Patina is a matter of opinion, but if it were me I'd get it painted before I started adding any new parts. patina means aged original paint, when the paint is gone it's not patina it's time for paint. it's like saying my tires aren't bald, they have patina.
Don't forget new marker lights , locks strip and that stuff. and there's lots of things you can add like drip moldings and such to dress it up if you want.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
In the U.S. right now there is a big market for patina trucks. I’ll never paint my 48.
But to each his own. Do with your truck what you like.

I think the truth will be somewhere in the middle, as I want it to be a work truck, which can show that it was build exactly for that reason.
But on the other hand I am far of spare parts, so I have to preserve it the best I can. (And also depends what German authorities say to get it on the street)
If I install new parts, the underground must be ok, that for sure.
What are locks strip ? Weathersealing stuff?
Edit:
Ah, I got it. Lock strips are the chrome strips in the rubber, right?
As the truck has only that chrome corners (see picture) I would need the rubber gasket with groove I guess?
Can gaskets with groove be used without the chrome lock strips?
There are gaskets no lock strip, with lock strip and with wide stainless trim. you would want the plain gasket if you don't want lock strip. you need the lock strip if the gasket is made for it, the lock strip actually locks it .
I saw a bunch of pictures only with that 4 corners, so I thought that was some OG trim. Can't recall if it were only on '78 / `79 maybe.
Or there a some out there which kept the corners but got rid of the chrome strips as they were more likely damaged or so.
There are some holes with rubber plugs in the corners where the rockers and A and B pillars meet.
Are they some sort or exactly these ones?
