found this ad on craigslist. Unfortunately not much pictures, but seems not too bad as a basis for me.
That one would have everything relevant from my wishlist as far as I can see.
What do you think? Am I right? Do I miss something, or am I guessing right?
Is there something special on this one as a good or a bad example? Something that you would (not) recommend? Are these rims those 2 part rims for example? Just by the pictures, is it worth the price ?
And, am I lucky and there is one member around that location?
It looks fine, but a bit overpriced in my opinion. I don't consider Idaho and Colorado to be low rust areas. They are better than the rust belt, but can still have plenty of rust. While my rig is a previous plow truck, generally I don't like plow rigs because they have all been driven in the worst weather, probably in salt and generally been used hard. I'm also suspicious of people who post cars in many different locations in Craigslist. I find that usually means they are either having trouble selling it locally (often because the price is bad or they think it's worth more than it is) or they are more of a professional seller (I feel like that can open up opportunities to get taken advantage of). That may be an ok price for a 4x4, but I'm not sure.
Gas tank in the cab for the most part stopped in '73 but the heavier duty models could of had them I think up to about '77. (I've only owned 78's so others more knowing than I)
1973/77 F250 4WD High Boys have the in-cab fuel tank. When the High Boy was cancelled February 1977, so was the in-cab tank.
I thought about the plowing fact, too. Really depends on how tough it was used. Are there heavy winter with masses of snow in that region?
The non original bed is a point , but would not be a problem for me in generall.
I would also take the 360, especially when that is the original one, but yes.. I see what you mean. As far as I know they are hard to separate when you look at them?
So maybe engine swap, he doesn't know , or mysterious engine growth..
Maybe all facts to talk about the price. I am for sure not an expert in that pick-up truck world yet, but as a feeling, I would also say, it can be a bit lower for that truck. Especially that there are more things to consider.. need for bumpers, grill broken.. and maybe more..
Thank you, so there is some snow indeed..
How is the usage of salt in the U.S.? Is it used everywhere? And a lot? Even on the countryside etc? Is there some kind of a "rule" to have in mind?
As far as a “rule” the desert SW is generally best. AZ. NM. West Texas, CO. and UT. But the inland Northwest (East of the Cascades) also has some very well preserved vehicles. It’s quite dry there.
In the end it always comes down to the individual truck. My 48 spent its life in southern Colorado and has no rust through. One of my 95s also came from Colorado and has a few rust spots already.
Im always looking at trucks even though I don’t need anymore. If I see a clean one in Southern Colorado or Northern N.M. I could message you.
Ah, thanks for these information,
I know the typical desert and dry states but the rest is hard for me what weather circumstances you got there.
Oh that would be really really nice. Thanks for that offer. Do you have all info you need? I wrote it in the first post. Also important is the title and therefore the vin, to import it to germany and the keys. Thanks again, really great.
I reread your first post. I will make a Note so I have it with me. I know of several old trucks on farms etc Not all for sale but I can always ask.
Most in my area are 4X4 because of the rural land and the amount of snowfall (even though the climate is dry as it is considered a high desert at 2300m.)
My German comes from my parents as they immigrated from Switzerland.
Cool. Some information came later in the thread. For example the sliding rear window or the automatic would be nice. It also can be an earlier dentside. If it's a 250, they all have break discs in the front, don't they?
And as I mentioned , they should be mostly original. Surface rust is ok, it will be no showcar. I think you know what I think of.
