found good news, went got alternator checked ,it failed.just to be safe went too couple of places.3 places couldnt check alternator, couldnt get it too ground ?????? so im assuming this is big part of battery problem.local shop here been around long time, going too rebuild 150. ,and they will stand behind it.also found out batteries still under warranty.this truck normally sits alot, have everyday car too drive.but hope problem is know gonna b fixed.have new hpop too have put on.then thats it for this winter.next winter wiil be bigger injectors, stage one turbo.dont need race truck,400 hp would be plenty,800 torque, just for pulling camper.
Address that trans before adding a lot more power. I bet a low stall converter, big cooler, and a shift kit would take it far.
Good on local shops, I always prefer to use them when available. Invest in a battery tending device if you are able to do so, this will trickle them to keep fully charged. Keep us posted on the outcome of the rebuilt alt. I had to swap mine in a pinch as the rectifier decided to overheat!
You just had a long thread about truck not charging and finished with it was fixed. Why did you start a new thread with the same problems? I guess I just do not understand.
ty guys, tranny already done.I have S b cold air,Banks intercooler, driven diesel electric fuel, adreline hpop laying here too put on.already pyrometer.edge tuner.3inch down pipe, rest 4 inch ,no cat no muffler.before long going too have gear vendor under over drive.everybody telling me let alone, last year our long trip was too hatteras,nc.38 foot camper, golf cart on back,3 adults 2 grandbabys.we fueled at 104 in va,scaled 19,000 lbs all together. It pulled like champ, couple times had toyota s think they could pull their 24 footers.had too run triple digits couple times.Hint dont care for toyotas.....buy american
Pretty said I think my book smart daughter that is an RN,mite have electric fuel drain on battery figured out.she went on website for driven diesel, most be common problem people not wiring rite.I figure I pay someone 2975.00 for labor for such a small thing it would be rite.but anyways it says if turn key on ,not start truck for 20 seconds and pump doesnt shut off,not wired rite.of course didnt shut off.they say the blue wire has too go too power supply, too only come on when key turned on.12 volt.blue wire we found going too negative post on battrery.
Ok guys thanks for help.this journey i belive is finally fixed.got alternator back, all wiring correct.also rewired driven diesel and tranny cooler.the way driven diesel said to do.under dash white box, look for 3 grey wires ,forget the other color line in grey, but these are Hot-Run wires.fired truck up,took 5 seconds, volt gauge jumped rite in middle ,if not father.while idling checked volts at alternator, starter relay, and batteries all said 14.1 volts at 700 idle ,awesome.shut truck down.been about 28 hours ,just checked batteries, didnt drive or start.still holding, 12.9 volts.HPOP next, dont think this will be that difficult.
