1969 N700 Decode

I recently purchased this truck from an individual who's grandfather owned it. The grandfather is deceased and the gentleman doesn't know alot about it. It has no title that can be found. The VIN# is N70EUE52577. I'm including a few pics. Any help would be awesome. TIA

Welcome to FTE!

No title--The estate of the late grandfather will have to provide you with some info and probably a form or two. Which they should have done prior to selling it. Check your DMV for the process of getting a new title upon sale. You might try checking the frame rail on the passenger side about even with the alternator to see if you can find the stamped VIN which should match the one on the door.

I'm moving this to the large truck forum where trucks this size live.

N70 = N700 gas

E = 361 2V FT gas V8

U = Louisville Assembly Plant (didn't they call these the "Louisville Line"?)

E52577 = 1969 numerical series, January 1969 production

163 = 163 inch wheelbase

No color code--color could have been part of the special order.

N704 = N700 gas, 25,500 lbs GVWR, "Except state of PA"

4281 = 42 = Charcoal Black Corinthian Vinyl & Charcoal Black Woven Plastic / 81 = 81A Standard Cab.

M = Clark model 285-V 5 Speed Direct transmission

GHD
GH = Eaton model 17221 Two Speed Rear Axle / 6.50/8.87 / 18,500 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.

D = Ford Rockwell-Timken 7,000 lbs. Capacity Front Axle.

25500 = 25,500 lbs GVWR

182 3800 = 182 certified net HP @ 3800

380202
38 = Pittsburgh District Sales Office

0202 = Special Order Number. Other than paint, everything else is there, so maybe the special order was just paint.

I really do appreciate the info. I'm assuming some of the original paint is still there.

Cool project! In my area parts for the N series are pretty much impossible to find. Within a 100 mile or more radius I only know of 2 N series trucks. Both are in my driveway. I have been restoring one for nearly 2 yrs already a long term process.

I'm finding out the lack of parts. Looks like I will be testing my fabrication skills a bit.

The 17 digit VIN started in 1981, so that link will only work for 1981 and newer.
