The F-150 has a lift kit and 35" tires with aggressive tread. That really worked out well. I got through a few spots that would not have been good for a car. With the air filter intake almost 5' off the ground , there was zero worry about water getting sucked into the engine. The couple of dozen times where those extra inches made the difference; it was worth every penny.

My house lost power for about 30 minutes last night. To me, it's amazing that PG&E was able to identify the problem and correct it in half an hour. Sometimes it can take 90 just to dispatch a crew. I know that the field level techs are doing everything that they can to respond to every outage. Very unfortunate for people who are still without power.

Not everyone has a generator. I wonder how efficient it is to burn gas or diesel in a generator, to recharge an electric car.

Lucky so far. No power outage, and right now, no rain. Seems to be off and on.

We have had winds topping out above 50 mph up here, but not experienced any outages YET. It is good being on the same portion of the power grid as the Railroad and water treatment facility, always a high priority for getting the power back on.

we have been having slides and chain control all over the district (7 counties) and we are anticipating more with the storms coming in.

The boy got his first ticket today, for Expired tags. DMV didn’t cash the cheque until yesterday, so we are waiting for the new tags 🙄

The last time that I renewed my registration, I did it at Safeway. There was a DMV machine in the lobby, right next to the lottery ticket machine and video rental machine. The registration and sticker came out of the machine within seconds. Do you have the option in your area?

I usually get a renewal notice two months in advance of the expiration date. however, when I bought the Charger, it was handled by the dealership. I had temp plates on it when the accident happened, and the cop was able to get my info from the temp plates. The new tags showed up around a month later.

We have had winds gusting to 73 MPH. below is a wind speed/gust graph from the last 3 days. Our power went off around 2:30PM on Wednesday and did not come back until around 3:30PM yesterday. We got several notices from PGE yesterday afternoon that it was restored, then not, then restored, then not, then restored. All in the space of about an hour. A little confusing up here, as we are on a private road with 9 homes and surrounded by rural-ness. We were on genny most of the time PGE was off; we do shut down the genny for overnight though.

We got a recorded 14.6" of rain for December, and 4.4" for January so far. That is almost certainly an undercount by a factor of ~~ 2:1 because where our rain bucket sits, the wind tends to blow the rain "over the top" of the bucket rather than letting it fall in, and we've had some serious winds. We find that often when the rain is coming down most intensely, the rain gauge is counting next to nothing. Only when the wind lets up does the rain gauge actually increment.

Interesting. We had rain and at times high winds, but nothing else. Power never went out for us, but my daughter lost power last night. She lives on the West side of Fresno. We got lucky this time.

Our well is ~~ 450' deep, and the nominal water level is ~~ 300' (or about 150' of water above the bottom).. We have the pump situated 5 or 10 feet above the bottom. We put on a thing called a Well Watch about 10 years ago, and I try to get down there (it's a couple hundred yards from the house and down in the "woodsy" part of the property. I would not think of it as empty or full, but as "above nominal" and "below nominal".

Most of the time, it is above nominal; somewhere between 150' and 155'. It has on a couple of occasions gotten as high as 172', and as low as 145'. The low typically occurs around September/October, and the high is in the January/February timeframe. I have not checked it for a couple of months, but I'm guessing right now, it is almost assuredly above nominal. For reasons I can't explain it did not drop all that much this year to about 147'.

Happy Saturday all!
Received my insurance reimbursement check yesterday so I bought Christmas presents for the grandkids. Better late than never, right?

Is the block heater even sold on cars in California?
