Got my iss pro guages installed 😎. Using isspro dimmer wired into the brown wire on the headlight switch. I'm having trouble getting the dimmer to work. When I ohm it I see it working, but the lights stay constant. Swapped to volts and as expected the were staying the same. Played with it a bit gave it a good squeeze and got it to function a little. It starts to dim then goes completely dark in about an 1/8 of a turn any idea? Bad dimmer?
It could be, especially since it functions a little.
As painful as it is I would recheck the wiring to make sure everything is still connected and nothing is pinched.
Once you've verified the installation I would call ISSPRO. They can give you any ideas/testing to try before talking about a new unit. They have had great customer service over the years for many users here and should be able to help you clear up the issue.
My dimmer worked right out of the gate. I don't regret getting it but once I set it to my liking I never touched it again.
It fit nicely into the hole left in the dash when I removed my TS 6-position **** but was not much more than decoration after the first couple of night drives.
I saw people talking about using the software to fix their issue but my gauges don't flicker when I adjust them. When I first wired them up I put the lights on the factory dimmer switch. I had 0 adjustment from the isspro dimmer. Basically seemed like I wired them straight to the factory dimmer. Out comes the volt meter leaving me scratching my head even more because it appears to be functioning. Thinking I may have made a mistake, I rewired everything. Noticed in the process if I manipulated the leads leaving the isspro dimmer it would function for a second then cut back out. Leaning toward it being defective think I'll give them a call.
Part number for the dimmer might be helpful. I can't find it on their website.
It's been a long time since I installed my gauges, but IIRC I never got the dimmer to work either. The dimmer works but the type of light bulb does not respond to varying voltage, just on and off. Maybe the dimmer only works with the Performax line.
And agreed with above, use the Isspro software if you have it.
Yes I got the ev2s. Dimmer part number is R72022. So here is what confused me. If I wire straight into my stock dimmer switch the r72022 has no function. Ex if I turn the dial nothing happens, but my stock dimmer will run through the full range of brightness for the dash and the guages. If I ome the isspro potentiometer aka the dimmer I see the variance as I adjust the dial, but if I swap to voltage I see no variance. My stock dimmer shows a voltage variance and it functions properly with the guages. If I physically manipulate the leads or the housing of the R72022 I can get it to briefly function properly. I guess im not understanding how without moving my leads when I ome it I see the variance when moving the dial, but swap to voltage and it remains constant. Like I said previously I'm leaning toward just a bad part. Honestly I could just deal with the brightness. It doesn't bother me that much. I'm just more along the angle of trying to source the problem for future knowledge and lack of quit in me lol.
I don't know if the EV2 gauges are working off a different reference voltage or not. Two different circuits from two different manufacturers controlling two different components sometimes do not cross over well for functionality.
I never tried hooking up to my truck dash dimmer switch as the lights are different between the two so I wanted to adjust each "set" individually to match the brightness.
Thanks for the heads up holiday's always make things fun. I'll temporarily wire straight to my stock dimmer and resist the urge to break down the new one to find the issue.
I don't understand the need for this R72022 part. I just installed Isspro EV2 gauges in my truck and did not have any part like that. I wired into my factory dimmer wires, and all work as normal. I do know that you have to make sure you get the proper series of EV2 gauge to match the voltage rating of your vehicle lighting.
With mine, when I had the factory dimmer turned up for dash, EV2's were just too bright on the pillar, Had to adjust them down further with EV2 dimmer.
