Have a rod knocking in my excursion. Either oil pump quit or I ran too low. I did have a check gauge light flicker briefly a few days before but never stayed on …. Either way it’s an 04 v10 2wd. Found one from a motor home same year. Trying to see if it will interchange. Pretty sure exhaust manifold is different and possibly the oil pan. Still in the motor home but can get it for a great price and only has 14k miles. Will it fit?

If the motor home is on an E-350/450 chassis then the oil pan, dipstick and possibly the intake manifold will be different and will need to be swapped with your stuff. If the donor is an F-53 chassis (class A motor home) then everything “should” match up correctly, but eyes/hands on verification would be in order.
Is the exhaust manifold different due to the donor having an EGR system that the EX doesn’t have? Its my understanding that all 2V PI V-10s share the same exhaust manifolds with the EGR setup being the exception.
It should work for you, worst case you will have to swap some of the periphery, such such as oil pan, intake manifold, and exhaust manifolds, maybe a bracket or two...
Panama City… salvage yard said they’ve done this in the past with 454’s. Going from rv’s to pickup trucks. Once I get the engines out I can place side by side and transfer what I need. Intake looked the same with the exception of the air filter assembly. Ended up buying the whole rv n will have to destroy the front to get the engine out but isn’t in good shape anyway. Also has the Allison transmission but I’ll sell that part later on. Can’t use it or not worth the work in putting it mine
When I was an automatic transmission engineer at Ford we used E4OD, then 4R100, then 5R110W transmissions in both eh E-Series chassis cabs and the F53 motorhome chassis. We never had an Allison. Ford did use Allisons, but only in the F-650 and F-750. Is that what you have?
Yikes,. If you are/were an engineer then maybe I’m arguing with the wrong person. Just looked it up again to make sure but we both the internet can give us any answer we want. It’s from a class A motor home. Same year as mine. Not interested really in the transmission. Local transmission shop said it would be big money to make it work in my excursion. I do know that my exhaust manifold will have to be swapped and maybe some of the accessories but will still work according to a salvage yard
An 04 F53 V10 motorhome would have a 4R100 transmission, the same as an 04 V10 Excursion. The motorhome may or may not have a 4x4 version of the trans with a parking brake mounted on the output end.
I don't know the specific engine differences. I was a transmission engineer. The block, heads, etc., will all be the same because it costs WAY too much to change those. Things like manifolds and pans can change, but they try not to change them because again, costs.
