Actually they are linked. God started the universe, set it into motion to create us over time. Why? Because if he just up and created us and the world is only 7000 years old(or what ever a particular religon says) his mark, hand print, or touch would be highly evident. He also wants us to grow older and more mature as his childeren so he dosen't have to hand down the same type of rules he did early on. If you think about it, he wanted us to find the dinosuars and to ask why. What parent enjoys his childeren remaining so immature that they have to continue to lead them around by the hand. Will we ever be in his league as our species matures? Nope, but don't you think he smiles knowingly as he sees evidence of us moving from primatives wearing furs to exploring space and all the good we have done in between? And does he not sorrow because we can not get beyond fighting for resources and land, when he gave us his creation the universe to move into?
Actually, according to the bible timeline. MAN has been on the earth for 7000 years. There is no possible way for us to date the earth. We know that dinosaurs were around and they date millions of years. Granted Carbon dating is not the most accurate but millions of years? Also When it says that God created the earth in seven days, why is it that we automatically assume that he was working by our understanding of time. For all we know, one day could be 2000 years to God, or even longer.

I did say if.
I was refering to the man made religons that try to say the world is only ten thousand years old, or if I remember what I heard about the old Jewish calendar it is supposed to be 7600 years old. I personally think on the order of 4.5 billion. Totally immaterial to me as I prefer to think that God, Jehovah, the Creator or what ever handle one would like to tack on the entity that created the universe, as the Father or parent or guardian of us. Maybe there is no one at all. But for me this works and I am more or less content.

I personally don't believe in evolution. If evolution is how we got here, then how come apes aren't still turning into people? I know that there is the ongoing search for the "missing link", but don't you think that if it was out there, we would have found it by now.

Hmm, that's interesting. I've never actually looked into it for an actual answer. I'll admit that it may or may not have happened. I don't know for sure...good link though.

It would appear to me that Darwin is still an evolutionist
and Lady hope is a liar
at least thats the inpression that I get
as far as apes still turning into people, it's not supposed to happen over the course of one life, but billions of years
kind of like our little toe is disappearing slowly because we wear shoes

Evolution is not about monkeys turning into men. They never will.
Evolution is about the fact that all life is related and the question is how far back did your line split off.

Don't take it too hard. None of us get to pick our relatives.

Evolution boils down to a very simple equation. A species evolves to survive in the enviroment it finds it self living in. Period. What is needed to survive, to get food, shelter and survive that is what a species will develop. If it means longer grasping digits to get food or teeth to crack grain or tear meat that is what that species will develop over time and hence will be different from it's base group. We have survived because of What If. What if I threw a rock instead of jumping on a beast to kill it. What if I made this motor and attached it to my wagon. What if I built a shelter out of stone/wood instead of animal hide. Imagination is what has propeled us to where we are now and will take us into the future. However at this point in our develpoment we are in danger of stagnation. And unfortunately the government is impeding our growth.

I spend nearly everyday pondering the meaning of life. Hence, everyday I find a new angle in which to arrive at a possible conclusion, but here lies the problem. We have many theories but no proofs. We haven't the capability to prove anything because we haven't the mental capacity to comprehend why we are here. Our minds work off of a four dimensional understanding of the world. Those are forward to back, up to down, side to side, and beginning to end. The dimension in which I would like to explore further is the "beginning to end", or TIME dimension. This is where we are limited in our understanding. Because of the idea that there must be a beginning and an end, there hence is no way to explain our universe. Because essentially you can't have something from nothing, how did that something get here? It's incomprehensible. Or, if there is a god, who created god? If there is a god I could bet he's not some human form as we'd like to think. Perhaps the universe is "God", and there is some invisible force (similar to gravity) but one that has intellectual properties, that aren't always consistent but serve a purpouse to keep that balance of progression.

If you think about it, human thought should not even be possible by our understanding, because it is essentially created from nothing, or at least by something we do not yet understand.

There is a physicist, John Wheeler who has put forth a theory that we do not even live in a 3 dimensional world, but a 2 dimensional one, but our mind more or less fills in the blanks. Although I haven't had the chance to read much on the topic, I know it was derived from experiments that which always resulted with the conclusion the scientists hypothesized, despite all procedure remaining the same, alluding to a possibility that our mind creates reality.

OK so there's this kid in sunday school who's not paying attention, when the teacher decides to call on him next.
the teacher says" johnny, who's the leader of the holy trinity?
just then, the boy's sister who is sitting behind him jabs him with her pencil.

" god almighty " johnny cries out

not satisfied, the teacher asks"who did god send to save us from our sins"

johnny's sister jabs him once more, and he cries "Jesus Christ"

now the teacher asks" what did eve say to adam?"

upon recieving a third jab from his sister, johnny yells out

"YOU POKE ME WITH THAT THING JUST ONCE MORE AND I'LL SHOVE IT UP YOUR ..."
