2003 F250 6.0L, what is the best source for replacing a passenger side ECM? Ford no longer makes them and I see several on-line suppliers offering reprogrammed units.
Please clarify what is a passenger side ECM? If you are referring to the PCM, it is situated between the driver side battery and inner fender. Is that what you're after?
That's not an ECM. That sounds like the GPCM by what you describe, with the green and black electrical connectors. That module is what controls the glow plugs and has ZERO to do with the MAP sensor. The Ford/Motorcraft part number for that module is DY-876. It is the same as used on California emissions 7.3L trucks, as well as all 6.4L and 6.0L trucks. I would be hard pressed to believe that module to be obsolete.
Ok, my bad. I'm getting incorrect reference voltage at the MAP sensor and was told that module controls it. So its the PCM located under driver's side battery that I should be checking, correct? I have a no start condition and trying to track it down. I'm not sure which module the dealer was looking up when he said Ford no longer supplies them, maybe it was the FICM. Thanks
The FICM is the fuel injector control module that is mounted on top of the driver side valve cover, rearward of the air inlet to the turbo, and under the coolant Degas bottle. If it is a no-start issue you are attempting to diagnose, the first order of business is to check for trouble codes and test accordingly. If you go to the 6.0L diesel forum, there is a VERY good no-start checklist pinned at the top with some very good information.
