I need to replace the driver's side front fender on the 78 F150 (without side trim). Haven't found a nice used on and I see a fender on LMC for $150. Are these quality panels?
I just recently bought both left and right front fenders from AutoKrafters up at Broadway, Va. and they are exact same as OEM, minus any rust patina. They are black EPD primed, and laquer thinner does not wipe it off. They are every bit as thick as OEM are. My guess is likely they are the same as what you're looking at ... though they said these are better quality than some they sold in the past. After further reading below, maybe they are the same as AK used to sell?
LMC does/did not have the best reputation on here as far as fit and finish of repop panels. Just saying, maybe Dennis Carpenter, National Depot or Raybuck.

Im not happy with the LMC front fenders I got. Very thin material, and one was damaged.
When I was looking for a Dentside, I spent countless hours here at FTE researching various posts/topics learning. One thing I came away with that was there are a great many frustrations and disappointments dealing with reproduction sheet metal. So much so that I made priority of finding a rot free truck so I did not have to deal with that issue. Been there before. Buying repop is easier and faster. 5 minutes - open website, select item and type in a CC number and its delivered to your door. Its takes longer to locate rust free original metal from a trusted source and sometimes shipping is a lot more but in the end, usually there are no regrets when you get rust free original metal.
But in the end, it comes down to how particular a person is. For many folks, the thin often ill fitting repop metal is just fine and using it can be the difference between getting the truck finished on the road or not at all.
My Custom has all the race track and it had the strip across the cab back and drip moldings, but the replacement fenders, doors, etc will need holes drilled if using all the chrome. Mine just has a red glove box door. I was pleasantlt surprised with the door fits, every bit as nice as OEM, at least as nice a finish as 40+ year old with a history.
I replaced both of mine. 1 was an original, the other was aftermarket. Obviously the aftermarket wasn't perfect, but it was ok. I went to my local body shop and ordered the new fender, they can easily refuse it if it comes in damaged.
