I love my 2001 F350 Diesel Dually but it has suffered the illness of the Northeast. The cab and bed have rusted to the point where they need to be replaced. I have found a good cab and bed from a 2000 2-wheel drive and would like to install it on my 2001 four-wheel drive. Can anybody tell me if I will have any difficulties doing this? Basically, I'm wondering if there are any wiring problems going from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive. Also wondering what to do about the VIN number.
You're going to need to transfer all of the wiring to the new cab, if the new cab isn't diesel. (really, transferring the wiring isn't that big of deal, just do it.) If the new cab isn't a diesel, you aare going to need a bit of the firewall where the PCM fits through.
In MN the VIN goes wit the cab, so here that would mean getting it titled as a reconstructed vehicle.
Is the 2wd truck complete? And does it have a title? If it does it would be wise to just swap in your suspension stuff to the new chassis, and then do the wiring/power train swap.
