Front door adjustment?

My 2018 f250 driver door isn’t flush. The rear part is out and the front part is recessed. Are there adjustments that can be made?

My doors don't all fit perfect either. The drivers side rear door would touch the front door when I opened it so I took it in to get adjusted. The way they adjusted it was to put a bar on the latch plate and lift up to bend the hinges. I guess there is pretty much no adjustment to the new style hinges.

This come from a friend that works in a Ford body shop so I don't think he'd lie to me.

My 2022 supercab had issues with the right-side main door and the back wing door with alignment and function. It just did not close properly. The dealer ended up taking the truck to a body shop, i guess they have the experts. Anyways after two separate visits it now is correct. Don't let any dealer tell you "It is just tolerance build-up". It can be and should be perfect. My rear bumper was installed wrong and the dealer corrected that after 3 visits. Keep after them!

These trucks are all fixtured during manufacturing and have adjustments designed into assembly procedures and brackets. I believe it is just a case of the assembly mechanic being in a hurry and the quality person under pressure to let it pass.

2 bolts on the front hinges, 1 on the top of each. Loosen and the door will move in and out on the front. Adjust the latch on the handle side to tweak the closing depth. All super easy adjustments. Definitely don’t use pry bars and start bending things. If you can turn a wrench you can adjust the door, it really is easy.

Some misalignment can be intentional to help avoid wind noise but it shouldn't be so much that it catches your eye. The door alignment on my 19 is all screwed up but I have mostly left it alone. I did move the strike on one rear door in to bring it more flush to the cab. The strikes don't seem to move much, I had to use a block of wood and a hammer to get it to move in even a small amount.

Passenger front door is like that on my 2021. The problem w/ readjusting it is you may end up w/ an air leak up top. I have had 3 aluminum F-series pickups and they all have door alignment issues. Also the doors are not stiff enough and you can hear them flexing/sliding against the seals as you drive on all three I have owned, especially in cold weather. This probably complicates getting them adjusted even more. Hopefully they fixed this on the "all new" 2023, but it is a truck....

The very few things about the new SD I hate is the stupid aluminum. It’s so weak. And i have exactly as you describe in cold weather. The wind moves it around and I hear squeaks in teh passenger door especially.

My front doors seem ok, but my rear doors aren’t aligned right. I’ve not taken it to a dealer as I’m worried they’d jack something up, scratch the truck, etc and I wished I’d never bothered with it. What I’d like to do, and need to look into, is find out how to do it myself.

It is soooooo easy. Literally loosen some bolts and start moving the door around. This is the most elementary and basic thing you could possibly do. Easier than an oil change. But, I guess if you can't change your own oil maybe you can't adjust your own doors either.

And I'll even throw you all another bone. If you are afraid you are going to screw it up and won't be able to get it back to where it was, though I'm not sure why you would want to go back to the effed up way it was if you are wanting to move it in the first place, the bolt leaves an impression on the paint where it's tightened down. If you freak out and just want to put it back, just line it back up on the paint impression and tighten it all back down and it'll be back to the original screwed up position and you can go on about your lives.
